The Project envisages making literate approx. 1500 children/adults who are far below poverty line, especially children belonging to temporary construction workers. On various building construction sites/slums/remote villages in & around Pune city, Tablet Based Literacy Project is executed by providing Tablets preloaded well proven Software called 'AKSHARDHARA' developed by Tata Consultancy Services which makes children from illiterate state to literate state by making them able to learn to read and write in local language (Marathi) or English & counting. The project promotes education and literacy by: • Ensuring that poor children have access to quality basic education • Strengthening the capacity of communities to support basic education &literacy • To Excite & motivate Children / adults to become literate once they hear that they will get to handle most modern • Devices like tablets to learn alphabets & counting • To lay Foundation for e-learning & for becoming a seed project to generate additional capacity to make basic education and literacy accessible to more beneficiaries, wherein the project is expandable exponentially • Spreading awareness of becoming literate to write & read & count • Empowering underprivileged children & adults to take up regular schools • Acquainting beneficiaries with further opportunities in education & employment fields • Improving quality of life of these beneficiaries & dependent communities ADVANTAGES OF TABLET BASED LEARNING Flexibility in adjusting to individual learning speeds Acceleration in the pace of learning to read & write The tablet provides learning / teaching anytime, anywhere, anybody, no book, no bag, any size of class, earn & learn, instant school with no blackboard, no infrastructure (solar power for remote areas) Overcomes the difficulty of getting good teachers in remote areas
