The Project envisages providing a digital learning platform to approx. 3600+ children/adults who are largely located in remote rural areas in Maval, Mulshi talkuas as well as Panchgani and Sangamner. The focus is on addressing the education needs of small rural schools with only 2-3 teachers, 1-3 school rooms, and between 10 to 100 students across 1st to 7th/8th grades. Tablet Based Literacy Project is executed by providing Computer Tablets preloaded with well proven software for teaching the Maharashtra State Education Board’s Syllabus for all subjects from 1st to 7th grades, as well as adult Literacy promotion software called 'AKSHARDHARA' developed by Tata Consultancy Services. Akshardhara helps adults who have no formal education, become literate by making them able to learn to read & write in local language Marathi and do basic arithmetic. The project will promote education and literacy by: * Ensuring that poor children have access to quality basic education * Strengthening the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy in rural Schools, Students & illiterate community will receive benefits of this project year after year.
